Pure Water Soquel is Soquel Creek Water District’s $145 million groundwater replenishment and seawater intrusion prevention project. Pipelines carry treated wastewater from the Neary Lagoon treatment facility to the Advanced Water Purification Facility on Chanticleer Avenue. From there, highly purified water travels to three injection wells to recharge the groundwater basin.
At the purification facility, the District acquired a former glass showroom and shop for use as an Education Center and plant offices. Paul Burgin Architecture, in collaboration with Brito.Rodriguez, led the building’s renovation. Walls were reconfigured to create a more logical plan, a stair was removed, a bathroom was added, and the upper floor was extended into the former double-height shop to provide more workspace. The interior palette draws on the adjacent purification plant’s blue theme, complemented by white laminate and oak finishes. Completed summer 2026.
