Replacing two small underused decks, this large deck expansion connected an existing townhouse’s two points of access to the exterior to capitalize on the site’s spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay and its bridges. The powder-coated steel “spider legs” supporting the full-height glass windscreen, sited to block the prevailing northwest winds, are a nod to the owner’s fondness for the work of Richard Neutra.
